Why these Audits are needed:
Columbus has seen an alarming rise in pedestrian deaths in recent years. People on foot represent about 30% of all traffic fatalities in the city. At Bicycle Columbus, we believe in eliminating traffic fatalities and endorse the Safe System Approach as the way to make this happen. In August, we’re conducting our first bike and walk audits right in the heart of the city. This is a call to action, and we need volunteers. You can find out the details of the events below, and feel free to contact us with questions, or sign up here to get involved. Watch the video below from Dangerous by Design for a firsthand look at the problems we face nationally and why we must demand change in our own community.
Have a route you want us to audit next? We are taking suggestions for our next bike and walk audit and find your feedback exceptionally valuable. Please give specific geographic start and end points on the map.
